Kathmandu - Days 148-149
It was a long ride back to Kathmandu from Turture, but we were somewhat entertained by Taylor’s fight with the bus attendant over ticket prices. Taylors strategy: silent treatment until the attendant met our demanded price. Worked out in the end though.
We had a few restaurants in mind that we had been craving for the past month and looked forward to upon our return to Kathmandu. However, since it was “festival time” both were closed - Thamel Doner and Fire and Ice. Devastation. We found another place with pizza - Roadhouse, not nearly as good as Fire and Ice - and Buddhi was supposed to join us, but he made a bunch of excuses and bailed. Apparently he didn’t like us as much as we liked him (or can’t handle having a non-dal bhat dinner).

Last day in Nepal! Finished up some souvenir shopping in town and enjoyed the rooftop patio at our hotel. We were finally able to get our food - Thamel Donor for lunch and Fire and Ice for dinner. Just as good as we remembered. That night, we ran into the Swiss folk - Toby and Veronica - that we met during the trek in Samaguan. We all went to an Irish pub to chat (and watch Liverpool) and then on to close down Sam’s bar. Played some pigs, chatted about the trek (they had an awful pass day, opposite from us), had a fun time. Great way to send out Nepal. Tomorrow: off to Thailand!
