Colombia and Ecuador were incredible. We spent a lot of time in those two countries, but still left wanting to see more. I would definitely recommend a visit down there, and we plan on returning at some point. But our ten weeks were up and we were excited to get back home for a bit.

Being home was indeed amazing and refreshing. We were able to see most of our friends and family during our little tour of the Midwest. No need to get into the details but here are some of the highlights:

*Being greeted with open arms and big smiles at 3am after a super long day of travel by our gracious Chicago hosts, the Larson's. With cow milk and phenomenal beer waiting in the fridge. The burgers the next day were pretty fantastic as well.

*The much anticipated beach day! Weather was perfect and lots of friends showed up. Plus, we got to play a lot of volleyball (starting with a clean and strongly hit ball right into my face - thanks Tay but you owe me a new pair of sunglasses).

*Taco Bell Sunday with Taylor. Cheesy goodness with loads of hot sauce while a nature documentary taught us things. Felt like home.

*Seeing Jackcat. He's the cutest and the fuzziest.

*Pickleballing with the Bruden clan. We did that a lot. Took me awhile, but I'm finally getting the hang of it.

*Gushing it with Jess at Samm and Emily's wedding. Beautiful venue and incredibly fun weekend. Though, still a little bummed that we didn't hear Fast Car.

*"Thanksgiving" weekend with the entire Luc clan. Ping pong and cards all day, hot tubs and stars all night.

*Listening to my dad sing polka songs as we celebrated his 55/57th birthday with Lakefront fish fry.

*Getting a taste of the Harms' suburban life. Not too shabby.

It was tough to leave again. It was easier than anticipated to get back into the swing of "home". But we have a whole other continent to explore and a plane ticket with our names on it.
